5 Skincare Tips for Your Wedding Day

A pre-wedding skincare routine is essential to help your skin feeling and looking the best for your wedding day, however, if skincare is a new experience for you, it can feel a bit confusing when it comes to known what to use. This blog won’t go through the ins and outs of every ingredient you should be using, but we do have a bunch of blogs that will cater to your skin type such as:

These blogs go in depth about ingredients, skin types and routines, so you’re bound to find a few good tricks! This blog will give you an inside into how to get started for your wedding prep with your skincare routine so you can get a quick head start!

Protect

If you want your skin to look good before your wedding, the first and most important thing is to take care of it. No skincare routine will be able to give you a glowing and healthy complexion unless it comes prepped with a dollop of sun protection. It’s always important to apply and use enough sunscreen throughout the day to help protect yourself from UV rays, which can play a huge part in ageing skin. If you do find that you’ve been burnt by the sun, make sure to use cooling gels such as Aloe Vera to help heal the peeling skin.

Exfoliate & Brighten

Exfoliating is always an important step in skincare, so if you don’t exfoliate already, start because it gives you so many benefits! Exfoliating helps by removing dead skin cells and breaking the bonds that keep them together, which allows new cells to surface, giving you an instant boost of glow on your skin. Scrubs also help by smoothing the skins surface by removing dry, flaky cells which helps even out skin texture and minimize the appearance of discolouration. Regular exfoliation helps to stimulate collagen synthesis (when a protein in your body is produced) to improve the skin’s texture, and keeps the skin looking plump, young, and tight – exactly what you want for your wedding photos! If you need any more reasons as to why you should be exfoliating, not only for your wedding, but to add to your skincare routine, check out our ‘Is exfoliating your skin necessary?’ blog.

Stay Calm

This is kind of a skincare tip that you don’t really realise is a skincare tip. Stress can cause breakouts, which is unfortunate when it comes to the run-up to your wedding as for some people it can be an extremely stressful time. Of course, sometimes stress is inevitable, but when you catch yourself being too stressed out, remember to take a breather and a step back to help keep your stress levels under control. You may find yourself with a new hobby such as meditating or knitting!

Keep it Simple

When it comes to skincare, I can find myself trying everything and anything, but when it all comes down to a strict schedule for nice skin, remember to use what you know is good for your skin. If you have sensitive skin, you want to make sure that you aren’t using products that will cause inflammation due to a harsh reaction. If you do want to try out some new products, try and use them well in advance to make sure your skin doesn’t react and that you like the finish of the overall product and what it does for your skin.

Communicate

If you’re not wearing makeup or doing your own, I’m going to guess you’ve hired a makeup artist to do it for you…and if you have the best thing to do with them is to communicate. If you know of any products that don’t work with your skin type or that you just don’t like, make sure to tell your makeup artist before you end up hating your makeup on a day which people, arguably, take the most pictures of you on.
