Before I get into this blog, I want to make it clear that although we produce this cream, everything I am about to say is completely my own opinion.
After just over a year of usage, I have finally reached the bottom of my Soothing Skin Cream, so I thought I’d give you all a little insight into my year long relationship with this cream…
What even is it?
Our Soothing Skin Cream is a product that Cecily formulated specifically to help soothe dry, and irritated skin. Being an eczema sufferer herself, Cecily was determined to formulate a cream that would both nourish and protect her skin. It’s made up of a range of powerful natural ingredients such as Cocoa Butter, Almond Oil, Propolis, Hemp, Borage, and that’s to name a few! If you have dry skin like me, I would recommend asking us for a sample (which we only have a handful of so be quick!) so drop us a comment or a message over on our social media (Facebook, Instagram and TikTok).
Soothing Skin Cream Consistency
The Soothing Skin Cream is a semi-solid consistency in the jar and when applied, soaks into the skin effortlessly. After you’ve rubbed the cream in you may find that you have tiny black dots around the skin, and this isn’t dirt! it’s actually propolis which one of the magic ingredients in this cream! I’ve just found that the black spots can easily be wiped off with your finger without taking any product off. Other than that, I don’t find it to be greasy or that kind of wet feeling that you may get when you use a moisturiser on your face, this is a bit denser.
Soothing Skin Cream Usage
Now, like I said at the start of this blog, it is over a year ago that I opened this product and I am just nearing the end of it. Over the year, I've used it in various dollops, some small for my face and some larger to cover arms or legs, however I’m really impressed with how long it’s lasted. I would say a little goes a long way with this cream.
Smell
The distinct smell comes from propolis, which I personally don’t mind, but I know that people may find it pretty strong when they first open the lid. I can definitely see why some people may not like the smell but I also don’t think it’s necessarily a factor that would put you off applying it to your skin - especially when it’s worked so well for me! The best way to describe the scent of propolis is a rich smell of resin and a hint of beeswax to it, so if that doesn’t sound like a smell for you, buy some nose plugs because regardless of the smell, this cream works like a dream!
Price
The Soothing Skin Cream costs £14.95 for a 120ml jar, which I think for time I’ve had it and the amount I’ve used weekly, I’m really happy with the price and would be willing to pay a little bit more. I couldn’t say for certain, but I imagine that if you’re someone who needs a lot that you will obviously go through it a bit faster than me but I couldn’t see you needing more than 3 jars a year.
So, did Soothing Skin Cream help my skin?
I wish I had taken some more before and after photos to show you my skin journey throughout the year, but I can honestly say it has helped when it comes to having dry patches on my skin - source: TRUST ME. I tend to get relatively small patches of dryness whether that's on my face, wrists or legs, and I’ve noticed that it does clear up within a number of days after applying the Soothing Skin Cream. I tend to dish out a few samples to friends and family who have eczema and they’ve all come back to me with positive feedback when it comes to them using it. I would like to just say that this is my experience with the cream and of course it won’t be completely universal but I would definitely recommend giving it a try just to see if it would help.
Overall, regardless if I work at Sweet Cecily’s or not, I will absolutely be repurchasing this cream again for the rest of my life!
