It’s about time we shine the spotlight on our beloved Soothing Skin Cream as we haven’t really written much about it for the last couple of months. Whilst we have been rather quiet about it on our blogs, I have been shouting about it to whoever will listen over on our TikTok account!
If you keep up to date with our social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook etc.) you will already know how well our cream works in healing broken, dry and damaged skin. The great results are all down to the blend of powerful natural ingredients, including Propolis, Cocoa Butter, Borage and Hemp Seed Oil. I’ve got to say it’s also down to the love and pure girl power that goes into the making process because if I’m honest, it’s not an easy one (on our arms!).
Over the last year we have shared how Propolis is made, how it works for our body and how our cream can help relieve dry skin conditions but, one thing we haven’t yet covered is some of the less well-known uses for it. So, keep reading to find out some of the different things you may use our Soothing Skin Cream for.
Soothing Eczema and Psoriasis
First things first and this will be an obvious one for those of you who have tried the cream or have checked it out on our website… Soothing Skin Cream’s main use is to relieve dry areas of the skin. This could be caused by a condition such as eczema, or psoriasis, or simply just a patch of skin that feels more dried out than the rest. Grab a small amount of the cream, gently work it into the skin and your skin will instantly feel more hydrated. But that’s not all it does, the propolis within the cream is able to reduce inflammation and irritation, essentially calming down the area.
Minimise Spots and Blemishes Before They Pop Up
Preventing spots before they come through my skin is the main reason why I use our Soothing Skin Cream. I don’t suffer with any kind of dry skin conditions, and I have typically oily skin. Instead, I do tend to get the odd breakout here and there.
You know when you can start to feel a spot coming through your skin and it almost feels like you are homing a planet on your face? I’m sure we have all been there, and then the waiting game starts until it has a juicy whitehead on it (sorry for being graphic, I am guilty of enjoying popping pimples). You pop the spot and end up with a bit of a mess for the next week or so…
It can be quite the nightmare, especially if you have an occasion planned where you are applying makeup and getting all dressed up. To stop this from happening, I apply a small amount of the cream to the area as soon as I feel a spot coming on. For me, it works wonders, and it really helps to minimise the spot before it even shows. Whilst the cream was not necessarily designed to eradicate spots, the inflammatory properties that propolis has makes it great for doing so.
The Perfect Primer
Initially when I first started working at Sweet Cecily’s I only witnessed the cream being used on Sophie's Eczema as that is what it is designed for. After a couple of months, Dorrie shared with me that it can be used as a primer before applying makeup too. Therefore, me being the makeup lover I am, I had to buy a pot for myself and put it to the test.
Around my nose and T-zone is where my skin is the oiliest and as a result I have quite a few blackheads. To prevent them from being on show when I wear makeup, I normally use primer with a blurring effect. I applied a small amount of the Soothing Skin Cream all around my face (a little goes a long way) and allowed it to soak in before applying concealer. I then applied my makeup as I normally do, and the results were great.
Dorrie was right, it does such a good job as a primer as it makes my face look pretty much flawless and helps to keep the makeup on all day. Since trying it, it has become my go to primer.
Helping Speed up the Healing of Scabs / Wounds
Along with its anti-inflammatory properties, propolis is both antifungal and antioxidant. It's a powerful ingredient that can help speed up the healing process of scrapes and grazes. I’m going to be honest with you here, I have a bad habit of picking at my fingers. If there's a bit of “hangnail” I become slightly obsessed to get rid of it and so I pick and pick till it’s off. 9 times out of 10, my finger goes red, starts to bleed and is sore for the next few days. Anyway, I started applying it to my finger whenever I took it too far and ultimately left it rather painful. The results were quick, especially when compared to how long it usually takes for my finger to be fully healed.
Whilst our Soothing Skin Cream is specially formulated to do as it says on the tin (Soothe your skin), it has a bunch of other great uses too. This pot of powerful natural ingredients has the ability to work wonders (in mine and many other people’s opinion).
